GREAT BRITAIN. Middlesex. Enc of Pain Farthing Token, 1793. PCGS Genuine--Corrosion Removed, AU Details Gold Shield.
D&H-1107. Obverse: Man hanging from a gibbet, "END OF PAIN" around; Reverse: Open book inscribed "THE WRONGS OF MAN/JANY 21 1793." A little pitting on the obverse where the corrosion was removed, a touch of weakness on the book. Attractive dark surfaces and great eye appeal. This Spence token has an American connection as it satirizes patriot Thomas Paine. Every now and again the suggestion is made to list the Paine tokens in the Red Book.
