CHINA. Tibet. 5 Sho, BE 15-52 (1918). Dode Mint. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield.
KM-Y-18.2; cf.L&M-656A; WS-0300 (same dies); Chinese Tibetan Coins-1-201 (same dies). Variety with sun above snow lion formed with 7 pellets instead of a single pellet, star or swirl. An interesting ONE YEAR sub-type with a different sun formation then normally found an any other date or denomination from this series. Exhibiting a bold strike with subdued luster in the protected areas and nice original surfaces displaying a light champagne hue in the centrals devices which transitions to tan tone at the outer solid boarder, terminating with russet patina from the outer pellets to the rim, while the reverse presents a more even and smoother tan color; all with minor scattered earthen deposits that add to its originality. A lovely example with a great look destine for an advanced collection of Tibetan.

When cataloged by Nichols Rhodes in the sale of the Dr. Karl Gabrish Collection, he described it as "VERY RARE", when thinking of these words much consideration should be taken. This always in demand and sought after type seldom appears on the market, considered a real treat its sure to catch the eye of the discerning collector.

From the Christopher Greene (馬祈) Collection.
