CHINA. Tibet. Srang, ND (1959-60). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details Gold Shield.
KM-Tn1. Struck over a 5 Sho BE 16-23 (KM-Y-28a), portions of the undertype visible on the reverse that positively identify the host type which includes a faint outline of a crescent moon above the snow lions head near the rim at 11 as well as other aspects of the host coin. Unfortunately this piece was cleaned a long time ago as designated by the PCGS insert now with mottled brown and reddish patina. Despite its shortcomings a far superior example than normally encountered and as such should be considered a real treat for the specialist. A neat issue with lots of character sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.
This series was issued by the Llhasa Motor Car Repair Factory redeemable for 4 Taels of grain (rice), approximately 200 gms worth.
From the Christopher Greene (馬祈) Collection.
