Weight: 7.9 gms. A sovereign, dated 1926, with obverse effaced and inscribed with the following: "Hong - Kong Jockey Club / Races 1928 / The Ladies Purse / won by / Backers Bay / ridden by / H. Maitland". Sovereigns of the Ladies Purse, which was Hong Kong's oldest horse racing event, were awarded to the owner, jockey, and trainer of the winning horse by a renowned lady, and in this case the coins were engraved.
