KMX-E1; Robinson & Shaw-11.1b. A fantasy issue in silver with ESSAI marked at bottom of reverse, presumably made intentionally as an error coin. Dated CS 1214 (1852). By Frank Lapa, a Chicago area coin dealer who, in the 1960's and 1970's, produced fantasy coins and counterfeits. A boldly struck piece with razor-sharp detail on the devices and dark gray toned. PCGS holder describes it only as a Mint Error and not as a 20th Century fantasy coin.
