CAMBODIA. King Sisowath Gold Medal, 1905. NGC Unc Details--Edge Filing.
22.0 mm; 7.36 gms. Obverse: Hamsa bird facing left within solid and beaded border; Reverse: Legend and date within wreath, "UVA / 1905". An interesting piece with a highly stylized and finely engraved Hamsa bird similar to what is seen on the earlier issues, but much more refined. This piece does not appear to be a French product, but perhaps of local manufacture. A small area of filing on the edge as noted on the NGC insert, now mostly covered by the prong. Despite its shortcomings an attractive and interesting piece fully worthy of more in depth research from the specialist. EXTREMELY RARE and the only example we are aware of.
