Sisowath Monivong like his father and uncle was more of a figurehead for the French administration rather than an independent ruler. In the 1930's Communism became popular in Cambodia with the parties intent to overthrow the French administration. The invasion and subsequent occupation by the Japanese in early 1941 led to the Kings retirement to Kampot in late 1941. He died at Bokor the same year. He was given the posthumous title "Preah Karuna Preah Sisowath Monivong Preah Khatiyakot".
Estimate: $3500.00- $4500.00
