ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.30 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Apellikon, Gorgias, and Aristonous, magistrates. Struck 88/7 BC. Helmeted head of Athena Parthenos right / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; magistrates' names in fields; to right, griffin springing right; [Γ on amphora, ΔA below]; all within wreath. Thompson 1132c (same dies); HGC 4, 1602. Toned, trace green deposits, area of flat strike. Good VF.
