Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Denarius (18.5mm, 3.79 g, 5h). Uncertain Spanish mint (Colonia Patricia?). Struck circa 18 BC. Laureate head left / S • P • Q • R across field, Temple of Mars Ultor: round-domed, tetra-style temple set on podium of three steps; within, is a chariot right, carrying an aquila and a miniature quadriga. RIC I 120; RSC 282. Handsome old cabinet tone. EF. Wonderful portrait.
