CYPRUS. Lapethus. Sidqmelek (ca. 435 BC). AR stater (21mm, 11.04 gm, 8h). NGC Choice XF 4/5 - 2/5, test cut. 'King of Lapethos' (Phoenician), head of Athena left, wearing crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head / Sidqmelek (Phoenician), head of Athena facing, wearing double crested helmet with bull's horns and ears and surmounted by ankh; all in incuse square. cf. BMC 7-9. Apparently an unrecorded variety (ankh on helmet) of a very rare type.
