CYPRUS. Salamis. Nicodamus (ca. 460-450 BC). AR stater (21mm, 2h). NGC Choice VF 4/5 - 4/5. e-u-we-le-to-to-se (Cypriot=Euelthon (father of Nicodamus)), ram recumbent left; ivy leaf before, dotted border / [u-si]-o-te (Cypriot), legend counterclockwise around from lower right, large ornate ankh enclosing pa (Cypriot); all within incuse square. Zapiti & Michaelidou 12. Tziambazis -. SNG Copenhagen -. BMC -.
The uncertain reverse inscription, which is partially off the flan and has been constructed in the description based on the corpus of known examples, makes identification of the issuer challenging, Phausis (ca. 480-460 BC) seems the most probable, if not minted by Nicodamus himself.
