SELEUCID KINGDOM. Antiochus III the Great (222-187 BC). AR tetradrachm (27mm, 17.01 gm, 1h). NGC XF★ 4/5 - 4/5. Uncertain mint, probably in western Asia Minor, perhaps Sardes, from 203 BC. Diademed head of Antiochus III right, in middle age; bead-and-reel border / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ANTIOXOY, elephant standing right; AYT monogram behind, ΠΡ monogram before. SC 986.1. Very rare. A seldom seen type with a truly amazing brutish style elephant. No examples found on Coin Archives.
