Flanders. Louis II de Mâle (1346-1384) gold Lion heaumé d'Or ND (1365-1370) AU58 NGC (Photo-Certificate), Ghent mint, Fr-157, Delm-460. 34mm. 5.35gm. LV | DOVICVS: DЄI (annulet) GRA: COm' (annulet) DnS: FLΛnDR | IЄ (double annulet tops), helmed and seated lion left within Gothic stall; FLΛNDRЄS in exergue below / +BЄИЄDICTVS: QVI: VЄИIT: IИ: ИOmIИЄ: DOmIИI (double saltire stops), cross fleuree with F | L | A | N in quarters and D' in center, all within tressure. A wonderfully elusive Flemish gold type produced during the rampages of the Black Death, fully struck to an exacting level on an even and sturdy flan. A small portion of chipping appears along the top of the flan, but does not seem to pose any danger to the coin's integrity, and leaves the legends intact.
