Louis XIV gold Louis d'Or 1704-O MS61 NGC, Riom mint, KM365.14, Gad-254. Overstruck on an earlier Aix Louis d'Or of the same monarch. A very rare mint within the series, this being not just the only certified example of its emissions for this date, but also one of just two of any date from this mint certified from NGC from Louis' long, 72-year reign. We have been able to find just one other example coming to market in the past several decades, a raw XF piece with a significant flan flaw and mis-cataloged under Louis XV, which brought the equivalent of $1457.
