"Republic" 5 Francs L'An 8 (1799/1800)-A MS62 PCGS, Paris mint, KM639.1. An enchanting relic of the late revolutionary period, struck in a fascinating time of French history and politics. Argent hues govern the fields, conveying a great sense of age and beauty, complemented by a hint of golden accenting tone over impressive watery luster. Scattered light deposits are noted on the reverse, but in hand this does seem less consequential than any photographs might suggest, rendering this an attractive Mint State specimen not to be ignored.
