Great Britain
William II, Rufus (1087-1100) Penny ND (c. 1092-1095) AU53 PCGS, Uncertain mint (possibly Chester), Lifwine as moneyer, Cross Voided type, S-1260, N-853 (R). +ǷILLELM REX, crowned, draped bust of William facing, star to either side / +LIFǷIN ON [...]ESTE, voided cross pattee with annulet in center over a cross annulettee. A highly pursued Norman king amongst hammered penny collectors, an impressive originality and aged tone preserved to the flan. A rather odd spelling is present in the mint name, though Cestre is noted for Chester by North, Legece is by far the more common writing.
