Great Britain
Henry VI (2nd Reign, Restored) gold Angel ND (1470-1471) AU Details (Damaged) NGC, London mint, Restoration cross mm, S-2078, N-1613. 4.96 gm. An extremely rare type issued during Henry VI's brief restoration as monarch in 1470-71. This was clearly a 'found' coin, as either plough activity or excavation has creased it through the center and its flattening has led to scratches and metal stress along this line. Despite this it was clearly a strong AU coin which had seen little circulation. For the type collector of British Angels, this may be the most accessible Second Reign Henry VI Angel available.
