Elizabeth I (1558-1603) gold 1/2 Pound ND (1566-1567) XF40 NGC, Tower mint, Lion mm, S-2520A, N-1994. A very boldly struck piece, Elizabeth's portrait and title strong; some impact marks are noted to the fields and light circulation wear to the highpoints, all of which are entirely in line with its XF grade. The obverse die was clearly of some age at the time this piece was struck, as it exhibits strong polish lines and a large crack running through the field behind Elizabeth. Scarcely offered as appealing as this, a superb piece of Tudor gold.
