Victoria Proof 1/2 Penny 1890 PR65 Brown NGC, cf. KM754 (unlisted in Proof), S-3956, Peck-1847 (ER), Freeman-363 (R19). A beautiful gem Proof which is not brown at all but golden red in streaks beneath vivid and rich blue iridescence, the mirrors highly reflective, the Proof impression excellent. Toning is natural on these bronzes, but so are carbon spots -- yet the present Proof of Record shows not even the slightest of carbon flecking. Extremely rare, and certainly one of the finest known of this date, with Freeman's rarity index suggesting 2-5 specimens known.
