Mughal Empire. Shah Jahan gold Mohur Year 2 Month of Azar (1629/30) MS64 PCGS, Surat mint, KM255.6, Hull-Unl., Whitehead-1217. Absolutely brilliant and as nearly gem as is likely conceivable, with this pristine state pointing to a likely origin amongst the coins discovered as part of the Akola Hoard in 1974. Believed to represent the military pay sent from Surat to Mughal troops fighting near Golkonda, the surfaces appear virtually pristine, filled to the brim with die polish and radiant with sun-gold luster.
