Qajar. Nasir al-Din Shah bronze Pattern 50 Dinars AH 1281 (1864) MS63 Brown NGC, Mint given as Tehran (though likely struck in Belgium), KM-Pn3, Poole-Unl., Rabino-Unl. An extremely rare Pattern, actually struck to the size for the later-issued 100 Dinars, and toned to a rich molasses brown with iridescent undertones of orange and navy. Presently the very finest of only two examples certified by NGC, the other, an MS62 Red and Brown piece, bringing $1700 in Steve Album's January Auction 33.
