Ottoman Empire. Mustafa I (1st Reign) gold Sultani AH 1026 (1617/8) AU Details (Damaged) NGC, Damascus mint (in Syria), KM28 (Rare), A-1355 (RRR), Pere-376var (layout). 3.38gm. An exceedingly rare gold emission from this sultan's short-lived first reign, and the first example from this mint we have been able to locate. Despite some light abrasions to the surfaces constituting the noted "damage", the strike on the whole appears rather exemplary, the centering dead-on and nearly the full beaded border visible on both sides.
