Philip V gold Shipwreck Cob 8 Escudos 1714 Mo-J MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM57.3, Fr-6. 27.2gm. Variety with date on reverse. From the 1715 Plate Fleet. A bold and attractive representation hailing from the famed 1715 Plate Fleet. The offering unveils a pleasing bright golden luster upon inspection, with an intriguing doubling seen in areas, most notably at the denomination which consequently reads as "VIIII" [Escudos] rather than the intended, and actual, "VIII" denomination. As is common for the type, prominent die polish fills the recesses, leaving no area without a feature of interest for inspection. Sold with Daniel Frank Sedwick auction tag.
