Victoria Specimen Pattern Penny 1879 SP63 Brown PCGS, Allen & Moore's mint (in Birmingham), KMX-Pn1, Andrews-399, Lampard-336. By James Moore. A rare Pattern issue representing a design that was ultimately never adopted for use in circulation. The designer, Moore, was a recognized and respected engraver who, among other things, produced a number of Victorian medals. This offering displays silty tone, with a bold strike that has left raised, sharp rims bordering the central regions.
