Charles III 8 Reales 1771 LM-JM VF Details (Stained) NGC, Lima mint, KM64.2, cf. Calbeto-356 (this error not noted), Cal-849, Cay-11988. Variety with one dot over mintmark, and HIASPN spelling error. An iconic and very rare engraver's error of which only a handful of specimens are thought to exist and which come heavily coveted in all grades. Despite the noted staining, which leaves a darkened obsidian color, we note that a VF Details (Polished) example hammered for $2100 in the Goldbergs' 2015 Auction 85.
