Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1728 M-JJ XF45 NGC, Madrid mint, KM347, Cal-81, Cay-9998, Onza-371 (Extremely Rare). An incredible rarity with an attractive amber chroma and light rose tones surrounding the devices. The offering exhibits even wear throughout, remaining bold and handsome despite circulation. The year 1728 saw the first "bust" 8 Escudos produced within Spain, rendering this well-preserved selection quite special to a degree much beyond its sheer scarcity and impressive visual impact. The first example of the type we have ever had the privilege to offer, with the last example of the date to come to auction bringing the equivalent of $20,127 when it sold in NAC's 2012 Auction 65 (lot 3039).
