Basel. City gold 1/2 Ducat ND (1750-1780)-H MS63+ NGC, KM172, Fr-49d, HMZ-2-96b. This choice fractional gold piece is the only example of the type currently certified by NGC, a fact in itself telling as to its scarcity. This is compounded when considering that not a single specimen has been seen by PCGS either, rendering this offering the only certified example of the type in existence that we are aware of. If any coin has the visual appeal to match its rarity it is this one, the devices crisp, the fields decidedly prooflike and offering reflectivity only tempered by a light silvery tone that graces both the obverse and reverse surfaces.
