Guayana. Ferdinand VII copper 1/2 Real 1815 MS61 Brown NGC, Guayana mint, KM-C41.2. Of absolutely impressive quality for this crude issue, for which the norm appears to be heavy circulation and handling. The Spanish government authorized this coinage due to the isolation of the area from other Royalist regions. Exceedingly few survive in better states of preservation, and even fewer in Mint State condition, rendering the present example conditionally rare indeed! Though the devices are made shallow on all examples of the issue, their full form remains visible here due to the lack of wear. A glossy antique hardwood patina resides over the surfaces, lending further visual appeal to this standout offering.
