Hadrian (AD 117-138). AE medallion (34mm, 23.12 gm, 12h). NGC VF 5/5 - 1/5, Fine Style. Rome, AD 123-128. HADRIANVS-AVGVSTVS, laureate head of Hadrian right, slight drapery on far shoulder / COS III, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, head reverted, between owl perched right on shield and peacock in splendor, standing left on scepter. Gnecchi 64.

Ex Morris Collection (Heritage 3071, 6-7 January 2019), lot 32107.

The three birds seen on the reverse represent the Capitoline Triad. Jupiter's sacred animal was the eagle, Juno the peacock and Minerva the owl.
