Crusader States
Kingdom of Jerusalem. temp. Baldwin II to Baldwin III (1118-1163) gold Imitative Dinar (Bezant) ND (before 1148/59) AU55 NGC, No mint (possibly Acre), A-730, CCS-2. Imitating a Fatimid dinar of al-Amir (AD 1101-1130) of Sur mint, dated AH 515 (AD 1121/2). Among the earliest gold coinage produced by the Crusaders, seen here in exceptionally good style, the pseudo-Arabic legends still bearing a clear affinity to their prototypes--a feature which rapidly disappeared from later imitations.
