Charlemagne (768-814) Denier ND (793-814) AU Details (Environmental Damage) NGC (photo-certificate), Melle mint, Class 3, Dep-606 (Charlemagne or Charles the Bald), Kluge-217. 20mm. 1.50gm. Fairly well-struck for the type with a nearly full outer border and only light flan stress. Formerly tentatively attributed to either Charlemagne or Charles the Bald, Coupland has since firmly attributed the pieces with chevron and cross at about 1 o'clock to the former.
