Great Britain
Kings of All England. Eadmund Penny ND (939-946) VF30 ANACS, Uncertain southern mint, Eadred as moneyer, Small Cross/Horizontal-Pellet 1 (HP1) type, S-1105, N-689 (R), CTCE-120. 1.21gm.+EΛDMVND REX, small cross pattee / EADR | ED MO (mark of contraction above O) in two lines broken by row of three crosses; pellet above and below. Highly attractive and carefully produced, the dies near perfectly centered and well-polished, while the flan reveals hardly a touch of waviness and no edge chipping whatsoever. Mislabeled on the holder as a Penny of Aethelstan, the coin appearing much finer than the VF30 grade given.
Ex. CNG Auction 103 (September 2016, Lot 1173); Thomas Bentley Cederland Estate (Cederland 170, August 2013, Lot 348)

Note: It is in our opinion that this coin has been slabbed with an incorrect insert. It may be sent in to ANACS for reholdering at the request of the buyer, free of charge. Please email SamS@HA.com if you would like to utilize this option.
