William I, the Conqueror (1066-1087) Penny ND (c. 1083-1086) XF40 NGC, London mint, Brihtwine as moneyer, Paxs type, S-1257, N-849. 1.36gm. +ǷILLELM REX, crowned, diademed bust of William facing, scepter in right hand held to left shoulder / +BRIHTǷINE (NE ligate) ON LIII, cross pattee, annulet containing a latter of PAXS in each angle. Definitively struck with very minor weakness and highly legible legends. A superb type coin.
