Charles I Shilling ND (1638-1639) AU53 NGC, Tower mint, Anchor mm, Briot's Second Milled issue, S-2859. The second finest example of this early milled type that we have offered, and a remarkably elegant one at that, aged argent surfaces revealing russet orange accents closer to the devices and the whole of the strike just mildly positioned off-center. For reference, we offered the next finest, a PCGS-graded AU58, in our April 2015 CICF auction, which brought $3407.
