QARAKHANID: Anonymous, 1213-1214, AE dirham (9.21g), Uzkand, AH610, A-3420N, ONS Newsletter #167, with the remarkable Persian inscription in the obverse field, khanan-khan 'umrash barad hazar sâl ta velayat-e gorosneh sir shavad, "May the khan of khans (cf. shahanshah) live a thousand years, for the starving country to become sated"; mint & date in the margin on both sides, decent strike with just minimal weakness around the centers, VF-EF, RRR. One of the earliest Islamic coins with a legend in Persian rather than Arabic.
