MUGHAL:LOT of 15 ZODIAC imitations in silver (except for one in copper, as noted): SET of 12 rupees, from the 19th or early 20th century, all based on the gold mohurs of the Agra mint: Leo (lion), Aries (ram); Taurus (bull); Gemini (twins); Cancer (crab, but in copper); Libra (scales); Capricorn (goat); Pisces (fish); Sagittarius (archer); Scorpio (scorpion); Aquarius (water bearer); and Virgo (maiden); all in choice EF-AU condition, with considerable luster, especially on the reverses, except the copper Cancer, which is EF; and Other types: Capricorn (similar to the piece in the set, but thicker and narrower, VF-EF); Cancer (½ rupee size, VF); and Aries (½ rupee size, EF); magnificent group; retail value $1500, lot of 15 pieces, ex Dr. Axel Wahlstedt Collection. The complete set is said to have been produced at Rawalpindi during the late 19th century.
