TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, cast large tin coin (63.25g), Robinson-20var (Plate 9.1), 71mm, knotted dragon right with long protruding pointed tongue, three tiny dots below the dragon // 3-line Burmese legend, superb example, very bold designs on both sides, choice EF, RR. Same casting molds as Lot 998 in our Auction 33. Coins of this type, where the dragon rather resembles a snake, typically weigh in the 55g-75g range, and were found in the Perak hoard, noted by Robinson, pp. 56-58.
