CEYLON: George IV, 1820-1830, AR rixdollar, 1821, KM-X-, modern fantasy, Elephant within wreath, lovely toned, Proof, ex Jerry D. Williams Collection. This is a gold-plated hallmarked sterling silver prooflike medallic issue copying the design of the 1821 Ceylon silver rixdollar coin. It was issued in 1978 by the Africana Commemorative Mint, with the fantasy 65% larger than the original type and having only visual similarity to the original coin design, and differs significantly in much of the detail on both sides. The medal contains 1.10 troy ounces of pure silver.
