SYRIA: Arab Republic, AV 25 qirsh, 1974/AH1394, KM-107a, Hawk of Quraish, trial strike in gold, PCGS graded Specimen 69, RRR, ex Sherritt Mint Archives. The Sherritt Mint struck 14,000,000 nickel 20.1mm 25 qirsh (piastre) coins for the Central Bank of Syria in 1975, all dated the previous year. We know of only 2 off metal strikes in gold which are not listed on the Sherritt Mint Annual Coinage Summary of 1975. Tied for finest graded at both PCGS and NGC.
