The remains of the great Artemision can still be seen in the modern city of Jerash. Artemis was the protectress of the city, and the city's most important deity. She is generally featured on the coins of the Gerasa, either in her guise as huntress, or, as here, as the city goddess (Tyche). The reverse legend on this coin translates as Artemis-Tyche of the people of Gerasa.
