Anne (1702-14), gold Guinea, 1714, Post-Union, third draped bust left, legend surrounding, ANNA.DEI. GRATIA., toothed border around rim both sides, rev. Post-Union crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG BRI. FR ET. HIB REG., weight 8.34g (Schneider -; MCE 226; S.3574). Two light parallel hairline scratches on obverse, deeper short scratch in field near Queen's name, a few other tiny marks, otherwise with mint brilliance, practically extremely fine, reverse better, the date not represented in the Schneider Collection.

This gold Guinea dates to the period when Sir Isaac Newton was the Master of the Mint, and John Croker was the Chief Engraver of the coinage. Queen Anne died on the 1st August 1714 though the output of gold during this year was the largest of the reign with a calendar year output for the whole of 1714 of £1,313,907.
