India, Kashmir kingdom. Successors of Toramana II. Ca. A.D. 530-855. Æ stater (21 mm, 6.83 g). King standing, sacrificing at fire altar, with Brahmi legend Sri Tora(mana) at left along circular margin / Goddess Lakshmi seated on a lion with head turned right; Brahmi legend Jaya to right. MACW 3799; Mitchiner, Non-Islamic 158. It is quite hard to find a specimen with the lion visible. This is one of the earliest depictions of Durga on ancient Indian coinage. .
