This coin is from a long series of progressively debased billon and copper tankas, which have typological links with the coinage of the later Delhi Sultans, such as the Sayyids and Lodis. This series is tentatively attributed to the Hindu dynasty of the Tomaras, who ruled Gwalior in the 15th and 16th centuries.
