Judaea, Jewish War. A.D. 66-70. Æ 1/8 unit (18 mm, 3.58 g, 4 h). Jerusalem, year 4 (A.D. 69/70). 'Year four' (Paleo-Hebrew), lulav branch flanked by an etrog on either side / 'To the redemption of Zion' (Paleo-Hebrew), chalice with pearled rim. TJC 214d; Hendin 1369b. Extremely rare variety with retrograde legend. Red-brown patina. Fine / very fine.

The obverse legend on this coin is entirely retrograde. Additionally, the die-axis for the regular issue is invariably either 6 h, a less often, 12 h. Here it is 4 h. This and the retrograde legend suggests that it was struck under difficult circumstances, like those which existed in the final year of the Jewish War.
