Caracalla. AD 198-217. AV Aureus (19.5mm, 6.92 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 203. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / INDVLGENTIA • AVGG, IN CARTH in exergue, Dea Caelestis, wearing elaborate high headdress, draped, seated facing on lion running right near waters that seem to gush from under rock on left; she holds thunderbolt in right hand and transverse scepter in left hand. RIC IV 130b; Calicó 2678; BMCRE 280, note; Biaggi 1175; Jameson 182 var. (holding drum instead of thunderbolt); Mazzini 96v. Some signs of smoothing, edge marks. Good VF. Very rare.
