George IV (1820-30), pattern Halfcrown, 1822, by B. Pistrucci and W. Wyon, laureate head left, rev. similar to second currency reverse, crowned shield in Garter, straight line below St George, similar to the regular issue but the whole design is smaller, edge grained, 14.05g (ESC 2381 (650) R7), a few faint marks but uncirculated and of medallic like quality, a great rarity, believed to be one of only three examples, in NGC 'Waterbird' holder, graded PF64 (Cert. #4861773-002).

A potential earlier provenance for one of the above is to be found in the William Forster dispersal (28 May 1868, lot 269), wherein a Crown and Halfcrown of 1822 were offered together. The surrounding lots testify to the strength and depth of Forster's collection of Hanoverian proof and pattern coins, so it is somewhat of a mystery that such a coin, if indeed the listing is to be believed, was not noted at the time
