The port of Sidon, in Phoenicia, was in-between the Seleucid and Ptolemaic empires and changed sides regularly, but both the early Seleucid coins and the gold staters of Ptolemy I Soter (305/304-282 BC) were inspired by the coins of Alexander the Great (336-323 BC).
