George IV: Caroline of Brunswick, Queen Consort (1768-1821), memorial medal, by T. Wharton, glazed hollow gilt-bronze medal, 1821, draped and diademed bust r., dress with ornate collar, rev. legend within a closed wreath, TO THE MEMORY ... THE INJURED QUEEN OF ENGLAND, 55mm. (BHM.1143, R3), the gilt brass edge with suspension loop, dust has penetrated the glass on the obverse, otherwise extremely fine and extremely rare
BHM records no examples of this medal in any Museum collection. It is not listed by Col. Grant. The name T. Wharton is recorded on just two medals, this and for the death of Queen Charlotte in 1818 (BHM.965)
