(x) British Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II Portrait, black and white extract (2) of a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, copied from a photograph taken by Dorothy Wilding during a single portrait sitting shortly after Elizabeth became monarch. This portrait, in one of its varieties, is the most frequently used image of Queen Elizabeth on world banknotes. The Queen is wearing the George IV State Diadem, and a necklace of diamond flowers and leaves, a wedding present from the Nizam of Hyderabad and Berar, Portrait Number 4a in the article 'The Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II' by Peter Symes, it was engraved by Bradbury Wilkinson on paper and attached to card, the first copy with ink annotation, 'As submitted 12. 8. 52', the second copy with signed approval in red ink dated 29/ 8/ 52. It was used on the notes of Belize, Bermuda, British Caribbean
Territories, British Honduras, Cyprus, Fiji, Hong Kong, Mauritius and Rhodesia & Nyasaland,, excessively rare and a superb addition to any Q.E.II collection (2).
