Laureate bust of James II left; IACOBVS II DEI GRATIA (Obv 2) / Two scepters in a saltire behind a crown, XII above, month (Sep) of issue below; J R on sides (Rev B). S. 6582 J. D&F 448 (unpriced, notation "Very rare"). Very Fine; dark tone; legends and design clear.


Timmins, in his reference on gunmoney, comments that conditions "at the mint in Limerick must have been very chaotic as the siege came to an end." He subsequently comments about the small shillings: "...to find them in a very fine or better condition is rare."
